How to use this UTM generator

    1. Paste the page you want people to land on. Any page on your site works, including links that already have a ? or a #section.
    2. Pick where you're sharing it. The channel fills in utm_source and utm_medium with the standard values, so your reports group properly. Pick Other to type your own.
    3. Name the campaign. Short, lowercase, with a date: spring-sale-2026 beats Sale.
    4. Copy the link and use it in your post, ad, email or QR code.

    What each UTM parameter means

    • utm_source: the site or platform that sends the visit, like google, newsletter or instagram.
    • utm_medium: the type of channel, like email, social or cpc (paid clicks).
    • utm_campaign: the promotion or project, like black-friday-2026.
    • utm_term (optional): the paid search keyword you bid on.
    • utm_content (optional): which link or ad version was clicked, like header-button or video-ad-b.

    Example tagged links

    Newsletter
    yoursite.com/offer?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=spring-sale-2026
    Instagram bio

    QR code on a flyer

    Frequently asked questions

    What is a UTM builder?

A tool that adds UTM tags to the end of a link, so your analytics can tell which campaign, platform and channel each visitor came from. It saves typing the tags by hand and keeps their spelling consistent.

    Is this UTM builder free?

Yes, free and with no sign-up. It runs entirely in your browser: the links you build are not sent to our servers or stored anywhere.

    Which UTM parameters are required?

utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. utm_term and utm_content are optional: add them when you want to compare keywords, or two links in the same campaign.

Why does the builder change my capitals and spaces?

Analytics tools treat Facebook and facebook as two different sources, and spaces turn into %20. The builder lowercases every tag and swaps spaces for hyphens, so the same campaign always lands in one row of your report.

Do UTM links work without cookies?

Yes. The tags travel inside the link itself and describe the campaign, not the person, so cookie-free analytics tools like TrackTrendy read them for every visitor, with no consent banner needed.

Should I add UTM tags to links on my own website?

No. Tagging internal links overwrites where the visitor really came from: someone who found you on Google would suddenly look like they came from your homepage banner. Only tag links you place on other sites, in emails, in ads and on print.

Where do I see the results?

In your analytics tool's campaign report. In Google Analytics 4, open Reports, then Acquisition, then Traffic acquisition, and set the dimension to Session campaign. In TrackTrendy, the Campaign panel on your dashboard shows every campaign, source, medium, term and content.

See which campaign brought your visitors

TrackTrendy reads UTM tags automatically and shows every campaign, source and medium in one simple dashboard. No cookies, no consent banner, from €4/month.
